Southern Europe roll-out shows Netflix's direct control of content now at critical mass

Netflix has a stated goal of completing a global expansion by 2016. With the company already embedded across all of North and South America, its focus is now on emerging market growth, specifically within the Middle-East and Asia Pacific. However, there is still potential for further opportunity within Europe, and in mid-October Netflix nearly completed its Western European rollout, with three launches in Italy, Portugal and Spain. We examine the rationale, strategy and prospects for its recent launch within these three Southern European markets
