Profile: Most-watched channels "can't get no satisfaction" in the US

Channels can broadly be split into two groups: those watched by the majority of the population (typically free-to-air, from national broadcasters); and those watched by a smaller, targeted subset of the population (niche or thematic channels, premium channels). Through Ampere's Consumer polling, which measures the Net Promoter Score (NPS - a measure of satisfaction with a service/brand) for different channel groups, we can observe whether consumer satisfaction with different channel groups corresponds to the viewership or reach that these channels achieve. Ampere has compared the data for 16 countries in Q1 2018, discovering a wide variation in the degree to which consumer satisfaction focuses around major broadcasters (such as in Denmark, Netherlands) against more premium or specialist channels (such as in the USA, Brazil).
